We found very early on that the wheat characters worked better with no facial features. Early tests with eyes and mouths created a disconnect between the heroes and the wholesome, golden wheat fields behind them. So, the performances relied heavily on leafy-limbed body language, and the head action was synced carefully to dialogue and augmented with subtle squash and stretch. Also, if you look very closely at the wide shots, you can't quite see a crop circle in the distance. That's because we didn't put one in. There's no such thing.
